Past Exhibit: “Southern Pastoral”

Thursday, Feb. 14 – Thursday, April 25
Reception: Thursday, March 7, 5:30-7 p.m.
John S. Burd Center, Leo Castelli Gallery

In this exhibition, artist Nathan Carlson investigates the relationship between the old, traditionally rural south, and new, booming metropolitan growth. The works explore themes of rural gentrification and economic displacement while finding beauty in the colors and forms that create the southern landscape. Abandoned spaces and abstracted, ethereal figures serve as observers to these transitions, quietly weathering that which they have little or no control over.  Free and open to the public.
